The Ecuador Public Health Service (IESS) has awarded the construction of the new hospital “Los Ceibos,” located North of city of Guayaquil, to a Spanish-Chinese consortium. Sistrol S.A. is part of the consortium consisting of the Spanish company Puentes Infraestructuras (http://www.grupopuentes.com/) who are leading the construction work, and the Chinese company “Sinohydro” involved in the construction of an hydroelectric plant. Sistrol will be responsible of the implementation and commissioning of the hospital control system (BAS) in close cooperation with the local company Numerik Ecuador S.A.
Los Ceibos Hospital is part of a wider effort undertaken by the Ecuador Social Security system to provide their affiliates with adequate healthcare public infrastructures. In 2015, the Ecuador Social Security system had to pay more than 700 million euro to private hospitals for the healthcare of their affiliates.
The project has a budget of 180 million euro to construct 72.000 square meters divided in six buildings of eight floors each and it will provide the following services: 550 beds, external consultation (more than 26 medical specialities), emergencies, intensive care (adults, pediatric and neonates), hospitalization of specialities and sub specialities (with a special area for palliative care), Surgical and Obstetrical Center, Computerized Medical Imaging Center, Pathology Lab, Morgue, Rehabilitation, Endoscopy and Burn Unit with 12 beds (more info in https://youtu.be/Atkx_Cd9QD4).
Hospital Los Ceibos is built up at a frenzied pace with 24/7 (three work shifts) to meet the Ecuador Government plans to open the facilities to patients by February 2017. Sistrol control system features more than twenty thousand control points to control five large chillers and the HVAC distribution system.
Following the experience acquired in the installation and commissioning of the large hospital Alvaro Cunqueiro in Vigo (North of Spain), Sistrol consolidate their experience in complex healthcare installations with this project. The company plans to offer their WhyB (What hides yoru building?) service for energy efficiency and fault detection, diagnostics and valuation (FDD&V) to their healthcare customers. Owing to their complexity and strict HVAC requirements, healthcare installations are an ideal target for applying WhyB analytics.
